The Mississippi “Magnolia” Chapter of SWANA invites you to join us along the mighty MS River in attending the 2021 SWANA Fall Conference at the Natchez Convention Center in historic downtown Natchez, MS. The conference will offer attendees a chance to learn from experts in the industry and regulatory communities on topics that deal with the technical, practical, and regulatory aspects of safe and successful solid waste management. The conference will be held October 12-14, 2021.

The safety and health of our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and other conference guests is our top priority, and we are working with the hotel, conference venue, and other local establishments to provide a safe and enjoyable stay for all who attend in person. However, please note that we are continuing to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in Mississippi and may still have to make the decision to cancel any in-person event.
EVENT PRECAUTIONS
At this time, there are no mask or vaccine mandates for attendees during the conference and while in public areas in Natchez; however, we will continue to encourage all recommended guidelines and will follow any local or statewide requirements as they develop. Any potential attendee with higher risk of COVID-19 infection should use best judgment in deciding whether to attend the conference.
All attendees that have not been fully vaccinated are encouraged to wear masks while up and walking through the conference area, at indoor events, and where social distancing is not otherwise feasible; however, wearing masks will NOT be required at this time during conference events. At the same time, all attendees should feel comfortable wearing one if desired. We ask that all in attendance please be mindful of their own safety and the safety of others and be patient as we take all proper precautions at the registration desk, in the conference and exhibitor areas, and during our networking events. We encourage frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizing stations as well as maintaining at least 6 feet of distance from other attendees to the extent practical. The Convention Center allows for extra space in between seats in our conference session area as well as ample space in between exhibit booths to prevent heavy crowds from forming. Networking activities will go on as planned but will be managed to achieve social distancing as is able.

ANNUAL CHAPTER MEETING

On Wednesday, Oct. 13, the MS Chapter Board of Directors will hold the 2021 annual chapter meeting immediately following the break. On the agenda will be approval of the previous years’ chapter meeting minutes as well as the election of the 2022 Board of Directors. All MS Chapter members in good standing should plan to be in attendance during this meeting.

ATTENDEE REGISTRATION
Early registration ($50 discount) fees for conference attendance are $250 for members and $300 for non-members through September 17. After September 17, the standard fees of $300 for members and $350 for non-members will apply.
Attention, full-time college students! If you’d like to learn more about the solid waste management industry and SWANA, you’re invited to participate in our conference free of charge. Just click the button below to register, and you’ll have access to the conference sessions, exhibitor’s hall, and networking events and only be responsible for hotel accommodations and meals not already provided as part of the conference and events.
EXHIBITOR AND SPONSOR REGISTRATION
Sponsorship is requested for all networking events during the conference. Sponsorship will grant your company recognition throughout the conference and special events. Sponsorship is $600.00 and includes conference admission for one (1) attendee.
Exhibit space will be available for companies who desire to display their products or services. The early registration ($100 discount) fee for exhibit space and conference admission for two (2) attendees, is $600.00 through September 17. After September 17, the standard fee of $700 will apply.
NETWORKING EVENTS
We’re happy to continue to offer our attendees networking opportunities which are included in your registration fee. These are great opportunities to connect with other conference attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors. Events are subject to change, but the tentative events are as follows:
MEET AND GREET – TUESDAY, OCT. 12
After conference sessions end on the first day, all are invited to catch up with friends and colleagues and meet some new people at our Meet and Greet. The event will be from 5:30-7:00 that evening down the road at EPYK Natchez at 515 Main Street.
GOLF AND BREWERY TRIVIA – WEDNESDAY, OCT. 13
Following the Wednesday morning conference sessions, we’ll offer a golf outing as well as a round of trivia with pizza at the Natchez Brewing Company. Details to come.
NETWORKING BLOCK PARTY SPONSORED BY PICKETT INDUSTRIES – WEDNESDAY, OCT. 13
On Wednesday night, all attendees and guests are invited to join us for a block party with food provided by our friends at Pickett Industries, drinks, live music, games, and great opportunities to network. The event will be in walking distance from the hotel at Smoot’s Grocery down the street at 319 N Broadway Street.
