The Mississippi “Magnolia” Chapter of SWANA and the Mississippi Recycling Coalition are happy to announce and invite you to attend the 2021 Joint Solid Waste Management and Recycling Conference May 25-27, 2021 at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi, MS. While COVID-19 prevented our opportunity to join together in 2020, we’re excited to be working together again on an event to help our organizations learn more about each other and working towards common goals. The agenda will offer both plenary and breakout sessions on important waste management and recycling topics as well as provide multiple networking opportunities to make new connections and opportunities to develop new solutions. Continuing education credits will be available.

The safety and health of our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and other conference guests is a top priority, and we are working with the conference venue and other local establishments to provide a safe and enjoyable stay for all who attend. However, please note that we are continuing to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in Mississippi and cannot rule out the potential for cancellation of any in-person event.

 

EVENT PRECAUTIONS

At this time, the statewide mask mandate has been lifted, and no requirements to wear face masks while within the IP have been set either by the City of Biloxi or the venue. However, we join the Mayor of Biloxi in asking that members of the public use common sense, prudence, and vigilance within the city in terms of practicing good hygiene and adequate social distancing. While masks at this time are not required to participate, conference guests should feel comfortable wearing masks in common areas and during conference events if preferred and will have access to hand sanitizer in the conference areas.

We encourage frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizing stations as well as maintaining at least 6 feet of distance from other attendees to the extent practical. The venue space allows for extra space in between seats in our conference session area as well as ample space in between exhibit booths to prevent heavy crowds from forming. Networking activities will go on as planned but will be managed to achieve proper social distancing as practicable. We encourage conference guests to be mindful of the safety of others at the registration desk, in the conference and exhibitor areas, and during our breaks and networking events.

The conference this year will be held at the IP Casino Resort Spa. Conference attendees with have plenty of space to interact while practicing social distancing in the spacious Studio B. Conference guests can reserve rooms at the IP under the special room block rate of $79.99/night + tax/resort fees. Room block expires April 30, 2021.

ATTENDEE REGISTRATION

Early registration ($50 discount) fees for conference attendance are $250 for SWANA/MRC members and $300 for non-members through April 9, 2021. After April 9, the standard fees will apply.

Attention, currently enrolled college students! If you’d like to learn more about the solid waste management and recycling industries and our organizations, you’re invited to participate in our conference, too, for a discounted rate for students of only $25 (plus accommodations), which provides full conference access.

EXHIBITOR AND SPONSOR REGISTRATION

Sponsorship is requested for all networking events during the conference. Sponsorship will grant your company recognition throughout the conference and special events.  Sponsorship is $1,200.00 and includes conference admission for one (1) attendee and exhibit space. Registration fees for sponsors not requiring exhibit space is $600.

Exhibit space will be available for companies who desire to display their products or services. The early registration ($100 discount) fee for exhibit space and conference admission for one (1) attendee, is $600.00 through April 9, 2021. After April 9, the standard fee of $700 will apply.

There will be networking events available for conference guests which are included in your registration fee. These are great opportunities to connect with other conference attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors, and we hope you’ll take advantage of one or more of these opportunities.

MEET AND GREET EVENT
Attendees will have an opportunity Tuesday, May 25 to catch up with fellow attendees and make some new contacts over light hors d’oeuvres and drinks during our Meet and Greet from 5pm to 7pm. More details to come.

NETWORKING CRAWFISH BOIL
All attendees and guests are invited to join us after the sessions on Wednesday, May 26 for an afternoon of food and fellowship. All conference attendees are invited to a crawfish boil put on by Pickett Industries, and there will be games and door prizes up for grabs. The event will be held at the Schooner Pier Complex at 367 Beach Blvd in Biloxi. Again, social distancing during the event will be strongly encouraged to promote the safety of those in attendance, and bus travel between the hotel and event will be made available to all participants.

GOLF
Those not so keen on crawfish should bring their clubs for a golf outing to be held during the crawfish boil on Wednesday afternoon. More details to come.

SCHOONER SUNSET CRUISE
Following the crawfish boil on Wednesday evening, our friends with the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum will be taking attendees on a sunset schooner cruise from 6pm to 8pm. Availability is limited, and will be assigned based on selections made on your registration form, so be sure to register early to earn your spot. Bus travel between the hotel and the event will be made available to all participants.
