In addition to our Chapter scholarships (see Scholarships page), the MS “Magnolia” Chapter of SWANA is accepting applications for the Grant H. Flint Scholarship Awards Program, the Robert P. Stearns/SCS Engineers Scholarship, and the Harvey W. Gershman Scholarship (new for 2022). SWANA International typically distributes $20,000 to $25,000 a year in four to five scholarships through this effort.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

Grant H. Flint Scholarship

Category I award – high school seniors or graduate equivalent certified candidates entering junior or four-year college/university – any field of study. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a SWANA Member in good standing.

Category II award – currently enrolled full-time college or university students entering their junior or senior pursuing a degree in environmental science, engineering, or other suitable major related to the field of solid waste management. Please note that this is not limited to science and engineering degrees. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a SWANA Member in good standing OR be a SWANA student member.

Robert P. Stearns/SCS Engineers Scholarship – incoming or current full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in environmental science, engineering or other suitable major related to the field of solid waste management. Please note that this is not limited to science and engineering degrees. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a SWANA Member in good standing OR be a SWANA student member.

Harvey W. Gershman Scholarship – currently enrolled full-time college or university students entering their junior or senior pursuing a degree in environmental science, engineering, or other suitable major related to the field of solid waste management. Please note that this is not limited to science and engineering degrees. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a SWANA Member in good standing OR be a SWANA student member.

APPLICATIONS

SWANA’s International Scholarship Committee considers candidates nominated by the Chapters, as well as applications from students in At Large areas who submit to SWANA directly.

Awards will be announced during Summer 2022.
